Jaquan Brisker grew up loving the game, playing with his older brother, Tate. When Jaquan was 15, Tate was shot and killed in Prairie View, Texas. The last thing that Tate told Jaquan was, “Just keep doing your thing in football. If anybody in the family makes it, it will be you.” That has stuck with Jaquan ever since, a hungry and intense football player who pours his heart out on the field for his late brother.

Jaquan Brisker projects as a strong safety in a cover one/cover three scheme. He is very rangy and can handle playing zone one as well as man coverage as needed.

Jaquan Brisker Scouting Report

Very fast. Stands out on tape. Moves well in the open field and closes on his assignment very quickly. Offers some lateral quickness. Excellent upper body strength for the position. Impressed. Good hip rotation and the footwork to carry it out.

Shows good tackling ability, though he likes to go high to make the tackle. Works downhill with power. Shows excellent tackling form. Wraps up well and keeps his head low and out of the way. Plays very well in run support. Really struggled to tackle in 2021. Pursues well. Works very well downhill. Very solid as a run defender.

Very smart zone coverage. Plays effectively in deep coverage assignments as well as underneath. Shows some great man coverage ability. Good physicality at the catch point. Inconsistent defender in space, especially against bigger, more physical ball carriers. Dealt with injuries against Wisconsin in week one – kept returning to the field for brief stints before suffering injury again – appeared to be a left shoulder issue.

What we want to see from Jaquan Brisker in Mobile

  • Jaquan Brisker has good size for the position, so I think the biggest question is how well can he play against tight ends in man coverage? He will have some phenomenal talents to drill against. There will be no shortage of opportunities to impress.

Pre-Senior Bowl projection

The safety position has evolved into a very demanding position, like many on the NFL field. NFL-level safeties are expected to be rangy, strong tacklers at any point on the field, and show good instincts to feel out the play and get into position.

Brisker fits the bill, and with good size and good speed (as opposed to great size and great speed), we project Brisker as a second-round pick. Brisker should fit into a system and with the right depth chart could play immediately.
